How to configure a connection to secure-hawknet

WARNING: Your XP system needs Service Pack 3 installed and a wireless driver installation that supports WPA2 authentication.
To configure a connection to secure-hawknet:
  1. Open the Start Menu.
  2. Select "Control Panel".
  3. Double-click the Network Connections icon.
  4. In the window that opens, right-click Wireless Network Connection, and select Properties.
  5. In the Wireless Network Connection Properties dialog, click the Wireless Networks Tab:



  6. If secure-hawknet appears in the Preferred networks list, click it and select Properties.
  7. Otherwise click the "Add..." button.
  8. In the properties box:
    •  enter the SSID "secure-hawknet" (if it is not already present)
    • Choose WPA2 as the Network Authentication type
    • Choose AES as the Data Encryption type
    • Click the Authentication tab



  9. In the Authentication tab:
    • Uncheck "Authenticate as computer when computer information is available"
    • Uncheck "Authenticate as guest when user or computer information is unavailable"
    • Select "Protected EAP (PEAP)" as the EAP type
    • Click Properties



  10. In the Protected EAP Properties dialog:
    • Uncheck "Validate server certificate"
    • Uncheck Connect to these servers"
    • Keep the list of "Trusted Root Certification Authorities" Unchecked
    • Uncheck "Do not prompt user to authorize new servers or trusted certification authorities
    • Check Enable Fast Reconnect
    • Uncheck enable Quarantine checks
    • Disconnect if server does not present cryptobinding TLV
    • Select "Secured password (EAP-MSCHAP v2)" as the authentication method
    • Click "Configure..."



  11. In the dialog, uncheck "Automatically use..." and then click OK:



  12. click OK to save your settings in each of the dialogs you have opened.

Connecting to secure-hawknet after configuring your settings involves:
  1. Choosing secure-hawknet from your list of available networks.


  2. Approving a certificate, if you are prompted, by clicking OK if you see a dialog like:
